Start of Maintenance
23rd February 2017.
The start of the final stage of treatment, maintenance. Today has been a good day and a big milestone in our journey. We got blown to the Royal Marsden by Storm Doris! We got there in good time and full of anticipation of what was ahead.
Amelia didn't need a blood test and we were in to see our consultant, Dr Elsje before we knew it. It was very straight forward, Amelia was examined and a few questions and a bit of small talk and we were given our plan and we were on our way again. It seemed very quick by the meeting went very well and Amelia is doing very well with no issues.
It felt amazing, we cried, laughed and drank tea! It also felt very real, knowing our next scheduled visit to The Royal Marsden is now 18th May!
We felt a mixture of emotions as we walked out with enough meds to last until May - it was a large bag!
We also got our end date - 18th October 2018 - 602 days. We are not naive to understand that this date could be compromised. But we are not thinking about that.
601 days tomorrow.
