Amelia was due to start maintenance treatment this Thursday, but, this has been postponed due to her neutrophils being to low, basically they need to be 0.75 and they are 0.3. This will delay it by a week, not a major issue but something we could do without.
Amelia has been strong the last few weeks, managing to get to school for the last day of term and also to ballet, which was really good for her.
It's been a strange few weeks, living with this is at times part of the norm, which it shouldn't be, but you adapt and make provisions. There are times when you forget what we are dealing with and yet there are times when it hits you like a brick in the face. Trying to keep the disipline with Amelia and Oliver is difficult, they have both been through so much, but we must keep them grounded and highlight right from wrong.
Are we winning the battle? God damn right we are, Amelia is beyond brave, like many children that face their battles.
We just need Amelia to keep making the progress that she has made already. I was reflecting on the photos of Amelia over the past 8 months, talk about a picture paints a thousand words, there are some photos I don't even remember taking, perhaps that's an age thing eh!
So, we are now scheduled to start maintenance on Thursday 23rd Feb.
Nice to see the guys that are doing the London Marathon for Clic Sargent in fall training! Keep up the good work guys and thank you.
One of my friends Andrew Barrs, is running 3 major London races, starting with the London Winter 10K on February 5th, followed by the North London Half Marathon on March 12th and finally the London Marathon on April 23rd. Andrew will be running for CLIC Sargent this year in memory of his brother, Jason. It is a wonderful connection that Andrew has dedicated this to as Jason dedicated his life to pediatric nursing.
So please, if you can, sponsor Andrew here -
